The Story

OK, so i am totally ripping off Rebecca's idea but it was a good one...........

For those who haven't heard it i have been told its funny so here we go....

Causey was due on Feb 23rd. Went to the doctor that day, no go, not going to happen he said. I told him i did not want to induce that i wanted her to come on her own, so he said "fine" (thinking alright you idiot, whatever you say, you psycho pregnant woman) But that he would not let me go longer than a week overdue! So i went home and waited and waited and waited! He finally said i would have to be induced on March the first because my placenta was breaking down and she wasn't getting all her nutrients! I was not a happy camper but agreed!

David thought it would be a good idea to have one last meal, and figured he wouldn't have to pay for it if my parents came up the night before. So they came and took us to a really nice Italian restaurant up here. We were having a ball, they were drinking, eating and laughing when i noticed my back was bothering me, but i didn't say anything until the end of the meal. My mom freaked out saying "you idiot, your in labor!" David very calmly looked at me and said "no your not, baby, you got gas" So we went home and went to bed, the pain went away and i went to sleep!

At about 12:30 am I woke with a huge contraction! Once i caught my breath, i got up took a shower, dried my hair and proceeded to put on my makeup and didn't have another contraction! David got up and started watching "Lost" on tivo and they started up again! They started at five minuets apart, but David wanted to see the end of Lost! He said it would be fine that we would leave when they got to three mins. Well that took all of 30mins. So we loaded up and headed to the hospital!

Half way there we get pulled over by the DUI unit!!!!!! Let me explain, i almost had my child in jail. If i hadn't been in the middle of a long and painful contraction i would have thrown whatever i could have gotten my swollen little fingers on directly at the officers head while screaming every dirty word i knew at him! Luckily he believed David that we were on our way to have a baby, I think it helped when he saw the pink feather wreath in the back!

We got to the hospital, checked in and were settled in about 4:30, got the epidural......life was good! The nurse checked when we got there and then again an hour later and i had gone from 3 to 9cm in like an hour! And she could see the baby's head, she ran off to find the doctor! Well slight problem, the doctor couldn't find her keys so she was running a little late! Nice! All i could think was that at least my money was going to good use since my husband was going to deliver my baby!

O almost forgot, my epidural went up instead of down, so my left eye started drooping! Freaked David out, not the look on his face i wanted to see! The doctor that gave it to me thought it was fascinating and paraded all kinds of people in and out of my room to "look at this interesting development, good teaching case" I was in stirrups, people! And no one could tell me if it would go back to normal!

Anyway the OBGYN finally arrived and she was fabulous! We pushed 5 times (not to rub it in) and out popped Causey! My mom says i'm shallow cause the first thing i asked David was "is she cute?" But i wanted to know?!! I don't remember much after that cause my blood pressure bottomed out and i passed out- that is why i look like the Pillsbury Dough girl in the pictures David sent out, they had to give me like 4 extra bags of fluids to stabilize me! Thanks Dave! But she was here and healthy and yes i think beautiful!

It is the thing i am most proud of in my life, that and my marriage to my husband! I could not ask for more and i thank God daily for all my many blessings! If we weren't so freaking poor i would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Um, I would have wanted to know if she was cute, too. I think our moms taught us that.

I love this story! She is so precious and I love looking at the pictures. I hope all is well with y'all. I know David is working all the time as is Garrett. One year down...don't like to count how many left to go. Cooper

I love even more that when Holly and I got back from visiting you at the hospital our friend who is a nurse anesthetist (spelling) came up to us and was like, oh I have to tell y'all about this girl who had symptoms of Bells Palsy last night from her epidural. It was you!! She was one of the "students" that came in to check you out!
